Vadodara, Gujarat – In a heart-wrenching incident that has left the city in shock, a 23-year-old law student, Rakshit Chaurasia, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, caused a fatal accident late Wednesday night in Vadodara's Karelibaug area.
Chaurasia, originally from Varanasi and residing in Vadodara for his studies, was reportedly driving at an excessive speed when he lost control of his vehicle near the Amrapali Chaar Rasta intersection. The car collided with multiple two-wheelers, tragically killing Hemaliben Patel on the spot and injuring several others, including her minor daughter.
Disturbing CCTV footage from the scene shows Chaurasia emerging from his severely damaged car, erratically shouting "another round" and chanting "Om Namah Shivay," indicating a possible state of intoxication. Eyewitnesses reported that he appeared disoriented and was promptly apprehended by bystanders until the police arrived.The injured victims were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Authorities have arrested both Chaurasia and his friend, Meet Chauhan, who owned the car and was present in the passenger seat during the incident. Charges, including culpable homicide, have been filed against them.
