Mumbai Police has cracked down on a massive illegal immigration racket, arresting six people, including the brother of a former BMC corporator. This gang allegedly sent at least 80 people to Canada and the US through illegal means, using a highly sophisticated system involving fake passports, altered documents, and even a risky "Dunki" route to sneak people into the US from Canada.
How the Racket Worked
The arrested mastermind, Ajit Puri, along with Roshan Dudhwadkar, Sanjay Chavan, Sudhir Sawant, RP Singh, and Raju Chach (alias Imtiyaz), executed a well-planned operation that involved:
✅ Two passports – One original and another called "Mundi Cut," where the passport photo was swapped.
✅ Foldable Stamps – Used to create fake immigration entries.
✅ Chewing Gum & Rs 10 Coins – Used to manipulate documents and avoid detection.
This criminal network used the "Dunki" method—a dangerous illegal route where immigrants were smuggled from Canada into the US through remote border areas, often risking their lives.
Ongoing Investigation
The Mumbai Crime Branch, after arresting these six, has now placed them in judicial custody. Meanwhile, police are on the hunt for four more suspects linked to the racket. Authorities believe that this gang might have connections to a larger international human trafficking network.
