Assembly by-election: AAP wins two seats, while BJP, Congress, and TMC each receive one seat

The results of by-elections for two seats in Gujarat and one each in Kerala, Punjab, and West Bengal Assembly have been released. In the by-election, the Aam Aadmi Party won two of the five seats, while Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, and Trinamool Congress each won one. The Aam Aadmi Party defeated the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Visavadar by-election in Gujarat. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Gopal Italia defeated BJP candidate Kirit Patel by 17,554 votes. Sanjeev Arora of the Aam Aadmi Party defeated Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu by 10,637 votes in Punjab's Ludhiana West constituency. Similarly, in Gujarat's Kadi seat, BJP candidate Rajendra Chavda defeated Congress candidate Ramesh Chavda by 39,452 votes. Aryadan Shaukat, the Congress candidate for Kerala's Nilambur assembly seat, defeated Marxist Communist Party (CPM) opponent M. Swaraj by almost 11,000 votes. At the same occasion, in West Bengal's Kaliganj seat, Trinamool Congress candidate Alifa Ahmed defeated BJP candidate Ashish Ghosh by more than 50,000 votes.
