Gnanasekaran to life in prison on Monday for sexually assaulting a second-year engineering student at Anna University in Tamil Nadu. Sessions Judge M. Rajalakshmi issued the verdict, ruling that Gnanasekaran would serve a minimum of 30 years in prison without parole. The court levied a ₹90,000 fine on the offender.
The court found Gnanasekaran guilty of sexual harassment, kidnapping, and assault under the Indian Penal Code, as well as Section 66E of the Information Technology Act, which addresses electronic privacy violations.
