A passenger train derailed in Germany's southwestern area. According to officials, at least three people died in the tragedy, and several more were critically injured.
Deutsche Bahn stated that the train crashed in Reutlingen, near Stuttgart, for "unknown reasons". According to local reports, a storm passed across the area just before the collision.
According to German news agency DPA, there were approximately 100 passengers on the train. At 6:10 p.m. local time, at least two train cars derailed in a woodland region.
German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz wrote on Twitter that he mourns the accident victims and extends his deepest condolences to their families.
Mertz indicated that he is in contact with the Home Minister and the Transport Minister. He has asked all essential assistance in providing emergency services.
