On Monday afternoon, a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed on the Milestone School campus in the Diabari district of Dhaka.
Brigadier General Muhammad Zaheed Kamal, Director General of the Fire Services and Civil Defence Department, declared that 19 persons were killed and at least 164 were injured in the jet accident.
All of the injured have been admitted to several institutions, including the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, Kurmitola Hospital, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Combined Military Hospital, and Uttara Modern Hospital, all of which are located near Dhaka Medical College.
Professor Asif Najrul, the government's legal adviser, stated: "We are profoundly disturbed by this tragedy. The government has already announced a day of mourning on Tuesday. Along with this, we will look at how the plane crash occurred.
According to Milestone College lecturer Rezaul Islam, the incident occurred just before the school's scheduled closure.
"A fighter plane struck the building straight. It affected multiple classrooms in the baby and junior divisions. "The school gate was completely destroyed and caught fire," he explained.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the plane took off at 1:06 p.m. on Monday. Soon after takeoff, the plane lost control and crashed into the earth.
Nine firefighting units are involved in rescue operations. On Tuesday, the Bangladeshi government announced a national day of mourning following the plane disaster. The national flag will be flown at half-mast on this day in all government, semi-government, autonomous, and educational organizations.
