Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar enhanced the monthly pension for journalists from Rs 6,000 to Rs 15,000.
Nitish Kumar shared this information on the social media sites X and Facebook.
The chief minister said on his Facebook page: "I am happy to inform that under the Bihar Journalist Samman Pension Scheme, now the department has been directed to provide pension amount of Rs 15,000 instead of Rs 6,000 per month to all eligible journalists."
He also declared: "Also, in case of death of journalists receiving pension under Bihar Journalist Samman Pension Scheme, instructions have been given to provide pension amount of Rs. 10,000 instead of Rs. 3,000 per month to their dependent husband/wife for lifetime."
Nitish Kumar noted, "Journalists play an important role in democracy." We have been taking care of journalists' facilities since the beginning so that they can conduct their journalism impartially."
