Nvidia, a US technology corporation, has announced that it will shortly resume selling high-end artificial intelligence (AI) chips in China.
The company stated in a blog post that the US government has guaranteed it that it would give the necessary licenses to resume exports to China.
The decision would lift a prohibition on the sale of Nvidia's H20 chips to China imposed by US President Donald Trump's administration in April.
The Trump administration implemented these restrictions due to concerns that they could be exploited by the Chinese army.
These chips have been a primary target of export prohibitions aimed at keeping cutting-edge technology out of Chinese hands as the AI race between the United States and China heats up.
This revelation comes as tensions over China and America's trade war are easing. In May, the administrations of both countries agreed to temporarily suspend their tariff battle. Trump began the trade war after becoming President of the United States for the second time earlier this year. However, Trump has set an August 12 deadline to achieve a trade agreement with China.
