The Supreme Court will now consider the bail requests of Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, Gulfishan Fatima, and Meeran Haider, who were accused of rioting in Delhi, on September 19.
The judges explained that they were unable to view the paperwork since they arrived late last night, even though the issue was scheduled for Friday, or today.
After the High Court denied their bail, these people—among them Umar Khalid—had banged on the doors of the Supreme Court.
The bail requests of Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, and eight other defendants were denied on September 2 by the Delhi High Court bench headed by Justices Naveen Chawla and Shalinder Kaur.
Gulfishan Fatima, Athar Khan, Abdul Khalid Saifi, Mohammad Salim Khan, Shifa-ur-Rehman, Meeran Haider, and Shadab Ahmed were among those who filed bail requests.
According to Delhi Police, during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in February 2020, these people planned to create communal disturbances in Delhi.
