On a busy one-day visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Assam this morning. This is yet another important tour to the Northeast that focuses on development, infrastructure, and defense preparation.

Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister and former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, as well as senior state officials and IAF personnel, welcomed the Prime Minister when he landed at Chabua Air Force Station (Air Force Station Chabua) at approximately 10:30 AM IST.

PM Modi is scheduled to officially begin the recently built Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) at Chabua as soon as he arrives. This tactical initiative greatly improves the Indian Air Force's operational adaptability and quick-reaction capacity in the area. As part of continuous efforts to improve infrastructure in the border area, the ELF permits heavy military planes to use the strip during situations or emergencies.

The prime minister will watch an amazing 40-minute aerial performance by the Indian Air Force as the day's high point. In an effective show of India's air strength directly on its essential eastern frontier, the exhibition will include a variety of frontline fighters, heavy transport planes, and cutting-edge helicopters performing formation flying, precision actions, and simulated combat situations.

PM Modi will introduce and dedicate many development projects worth more than ₹5,500 crore to the people of Assam later in the day. In order to improve connectivity, employment, and the general standard of living throughout the state, they include important road, rail, health, education, and water infrastructure projects. A number of these initiatives are part of the Center's unique focus on the overall development of the Northeast.

This visit corresponds with Assam's rapid expansion in defense infrastructure in the India-China border region and connectivity (new highways, airports, and rail links). Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister, has highlighted over and again how these central measures are turning the state into a significant strategic and economic center.

Throughout the day, the prime minister is also anticipated to speak at a public event or engage with those receiving them, reaffirming the government's dedication to "Viksit Bharat" and inclusive development in the Northeast.
