180 companies were deployed for the security of Amarnath pilgrims

Following the attack on visitors in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, security measures for the Amarnath Yatra have been strengthened. Bhim Sen Tuti, Inspector General of Police for the Jammu region, informed news agency PTI that 180 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) companies have been deployed to ensure the Yatra's security this year. This is thirty more than in prior years. He further stated: "Pilgrims are requested to travel in official convoys instead of travelling independently." The journey to the Amarnath cave, located at an altitude of around 3,880 meters above sea level, has been set for 38 days this time, beginning on July 3 from both the Anantnag and Ganderbal routes.
