Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar declared on Thursday that beginning August 1, no household consumers will have to pay for power up to 125 units.
He said that starting in July, there will be no need to pay for electricity up to 125 units. Nitish Kumar stated, "This will benefit one crore, 67 lakh families in the state. We have also decided that, following obtaining approval from all of these home users, we will provide them with benefits by putting solar power plants on their rooftops and in neighboring public places during the next three years."
He explained, "Under the Kutir Jyoti Yojana, the state government will bear the entire cost of establishing solar power plants for extremely poor families." The government will also provide enough assistance with the remaining cost."
"With this, home customers will no longer have to pay anything for up to 125 units of electricity. According to estimates, up to 10,000 megawatts of solar energy will be available in the state within the next three years. Nitish Kumar's declaration comes as Bihar prepares for assembly elections at the end of the year.
