The Indian cricket team defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the final to win the Asia Cup 2025 championship.
The Indian team lost just five wickets in 19.4 overs, achieving the 147-run victory target set by Pakistan.
The star of India's win was Tilak Varma, who scored an undefeated 69 off 53 balls, with Shivam Dube scoring in 33 runs.
Kuldeep Yadav had earlier held Pakistan to 146 runs in 19.1 overs with four wickets. For the ninth time, Team India won victorious in the Asia Cup.
India's poor start
India had a rough start as they chased a goal of 147, losing three wickets for just 20 runs in four overs.
Even though Abhishek Sharma was playing well, he was only able to score five runs in the final.
But then, with a 57-run partnership for the fifth wicket, Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma stabilized India's innings.
However, Sanju Samson was unable to score more than 24 runs in his innings. Then, Tilak Varma joined Shivam Dube in aggressively advancing India's innings.
India came very close to winning with an undefeated 69 from Tilak Varma and a 33 from Shivam Dube.
Faheem Ashraf recovered three wickets for 29 runs in four overs for Pakistan.
Pakistan's innings was a complete disaster
Pakistan got off to a strong start after losing the toss, as Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan combined for 84 runs for the first wicket in 9.4 overs.
Sahibzada Farhan was removed by Varun Chakravarthy on the fourth ball of the tenth over. But before being removed, Farhan had collected 58 runs off of 37 balls.
Then, after 12.5 overs, Pakistan lost their second wicket. After 14 runs, Saim Ayub was removed by Kuldeep Yadav.
The wickets for Pakistan started to fall after Saim was removed. Other than Saim, Fakhar, and Farhan, no other batter from Pakistan was able to score ten runs.
In a 33-run period, Pakistan lost their last nine wickets.
Bumrah, Axar, and Varun each claimed two wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav claimed four for India.
After winning the toss, Indian cricket captain Suryakumar Yadav chose to bowl first.
At the toss, captain Suryakumar Yadav declared that Hardik Pandya will not be included in the playing eleven because of an injury. In instead of him, Rinku Singh is playing. Team India has experienced two additional changes.
Pakistan, however, has not changed its starting lineup.
India and Pakistan clashed three times in the Asia Cup 2025. The Indian team defeated Pakistan on all three occasions.
Also, all eight of the previous meetings between the two sides have been won by Team India.
